Strive to be Stylish, Don't worry about Fashion.

Fashion is about dressing according to what's fashionable. Style is more about being yourself. - Oscar de la Renta

Many of my clients tell me, "I'm not a fashionable person". As an It’s Just Lunch Stylist, it’s my job to assist them in finding a style that reflects their personality, flatters their figure, and attracts the opposite sex. When styling both men and women, there are several common issues that come up.

LADIES:

My #1 piece of advice: wear a dress. When we ask our male clients what they would like to see their date arrive in, the answer is almost invariably "a dress and heels".

Quality over Quantity: High quality fabrics are key. I would encourage you to purchase one well-made dress that is cut well over two cheaper choices. I find Calvin Klein does an excellent job at balancing quality and cost.

Ruching is your friend. No one is perfect and these flattering folds cleverly camouflage problem areas, daring people to guess where the dress begins and you end.

Keep it simple. Resist the urge to dress in busy patterns or over-accessorize. Solid colors or simple prints are flattering, and streamlined accessories allow the focus to remain on you and not what you're wearing. This also makes it possible for you to re-wear favorite pieces without anyone noticing.

Glowing skin. I encourage a yearly visit to your dermatologist. Skin changes as we age and our skin care regimens need to change with it. The use of Botox and/or fillers is a personal choice, but I encourage all women to use a good exfoliant and a high quality moisturizer as well as daily use of a product with Retin-A. Also make sure you are drinking a full 64oz of water each day. Hydrated skin hides fine lines and has a natural luminosity that is very attractive.

Make up: Keep your make up simple and natural. Avoid colored eyeliners or bright eye shadows. For a pop of color, a bold lip can be sexy and fun.

GENTLEMEN:

Scent: A good cologne, subtly applied, is highly encouraged. Women find scent to be very attractive, give her an excuse to lean in a little!

Tailoring is your friend. Whether you're wearing a suit or simply a jacket and jeans, make sure your look is well-tailored to your frame. Sloppy or ill-fitting clothes are an instant turn-off for most women.

Put the right foot forward. Choose footwear that is in good shape, free of scuffs or wear. The details of your look matter, and she will notice.

Visit your dermatologist. Skincare isn't just for women! Ask for a good moisturizer and drink plenty of water.

Dating doesn’t have to be difficult; these simple additions to your routine will make you look and feel better, and will make attracting the opposite sex that much easier.
