Why is feedback so important to your IJL experience?

As a new client with It’s Just Lunch the aspect of calling in to give feedback can seem a little intimidating and frankly a bit strange. Telling your client advisor, whom you barely know, how your date went can seem like the weirdest thing on earth – but it’s so necessary. Here is a breakdown of why we ask clients to call in and give feedback, and why it is so beneficial.

Why do we ask for feedback anyway? At IJL we know we’re working with busy professionals, and a lot of times calling us back to give feedback can seem tedious. But we can’t emphasize enough how important this is. Feedback is strictly confidential and will not be shared with the person you went out with; it is simply used to give us a better understanding of what you’re looking for in a match. Calling with feedback can be as simple as giving us a call on the way to work or during your lunch break. If you don’t have a break during the day leave us a message after our business hours, and we’ll get back to you within the next business day.

A Breakdown of Feedback: Why we ask what we do

How long did your date last? The reason we ask this question is because it helps gauge if there was chemistry or not. If your date lasted 30 minutes and you didn’t exchange numbers, it’s pretty clear that that maybe this match sounded good on paper, but in person there wasn’t chemistry. But if your date lasted 5 hours and you went and got drinks afterwards but you “feel there’s no chemistry”, then we may want to look into this. If you’re spending this much time with someone already, you may feel really comfortable with them. This could lead to finding chemistry on a second date that you weren’t aware of the first time you met them.

Were you attracted to him/her? It may feel weird or awkward answering this question at first – but it’s essential that you’re honest and open with your client advisor about how attracted you were to your date. Maybe they were a really attractive person, but they just weren’t your type – let us know this! This information really helps us fine tune who we’re matching you with. Similarly, maybe on paper they seem really active, but when you meet them they’re too skinny or bulky – active comes in all different shapes and sizes, let us know the type of man or woman you’re looking for so we can help fine tune who we’re setting you up with.

Would you see him/her again? Maybe you had an enjoyable time, but you don’t feel there’s a romantic connection – that’s okay. We want to hear why you felt this way so we can either set you up with someone who has more of what you’re looking for, or so we can encourage you to see them again. Sometimes that romantic connection isn’t there on the first date, which is why we encourage all our clients to see each other a second time. A lot of times that second date can feel more natural and make it easier for you to get to know each other.

Did you exchange numbers? Well did you?? If you liked them, get their number! Even if you don’t go on another date right away it’s beneficial to have their number so you can contact them again if necessary, or even if you want to politely let them know you’re not interested. We also understand that sometimes the end of a date can get awkward, and maybe somewhere in saying goodbye you forgot to get their number. If there’s positive feedback on both sides we can assist in passing along your number, or potentially coordinating a second date.

We want our clients to be successful as possible, but in order for this to happen you need to be honest when it comes to giving feedback. Further, if there’s something you’re not happy with, let your client advisor know! We’re here to help and to make sure your experience with It’s Just Lunch is as successful as possible.
